If you’ve ever crossed the Tamiami Trail on the way to Miami, then you’ve driven past Everglades City. But chances are you didn’t even notice. The turnoff to this isolated outpost 36 miles from Naples passes quickly; it’s easy to cruise by without registering that an entire village sits off the main road.
