We Belong in Pat Benatar's Home on Maui

shutterstock_494974270Anyone who’s ever had a hankering to see a whale or a sea turtle swim past their home will fall in love with Pat Benatar’s acre of paradise on Maui. It’s ideal for a rocker — the musical kind and the one made for sweet afternoon naps.

Lazing on Benatar’s covered lanai or her upstairs balconies, take in the coconut trees and breezes from the sea. The home’s open floor plan brings all that goodness inside, to a high-ceilinged living room with exposed beams and skylights. It flows seamlessly into a chef’s kitchen and a separate tiki bar, perfect for lubricating these laid-back days.

The rock legend and her musician husband, Neil Giraldo, love the Hana area so much that they gave one of their children the name.

But they’re giving the sale of this home their best shot, with a listing for $3.2 million with Dan Omer and Megan Bouhey of Island Sotheby’s International Realty.

Surrounded by lush, rolling hills and ocean views toward the Big Island’s Haleakala Crater, the estate includes a 2-bedroom main home and a guest house that doubles as a recording studio, according to The Wall Street Journal. There are 3.5 bathrooms, including one with a soaking tub and an outdoor — but private — lava rock shower with two shower heads.

The couple’s touring schedule caused them to relocate to California, Giraldo told the Journal. After the Maui home sells, “we’ll probably get a brownstone or something in New York.” Anyone dedicated to island time knows that’s a heartbreaker.
