House of the Week: A Mediterranean Dream in Miami Beach

Just opening the door of this 1930 Mediterranean oasis in Miami Beach takes real estate agent Jill Hertzberg’s breath away. And she’s seen gorgeous homes before.

The Jills, as her agency is known, sold Ricky Martin’s former Mediterranean estate for $18.5 million earlier this year. It was designed by Carlos B. Schoeppl, the same architect who created this lush listing spanning 4,231 square feet and on the market for $3.8 million.

“When you open that door it takes your breath away,” said Hertzberg, whose agency is under the umbrella of Coldwell Banker Previews International.

“You stand there for a minute and take in the cathedral ceilings and the French doors on the back wall that look out onto this pool — so your eyes are just traveling, and it’s beautiful. It’s a big wow.”

The spacious living area also features wood flooring and a grand-scale, wood-burning fireplace. The 3 bedrooms and 3 baths include a large master suite with an opulent chandelier, plus a bathroom with a soaking tub, separate shower and its own chandelier.

The extravagantly landscaped grounds include a Keystone-trimmed pool with Chicago brick flooring and a cabana that has ample enough built-in closets to be used as a guesthouse — or an office or media room.
