Location: Fort Myers - Are you ready for storm season? Be prepared and informed by attending the free Hurricane Expo on Saturday, May 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Edison Mall, Southwest Floridas only enclosed and climate-controlled shopping destination in the Greater Fort Myers and Naples area. Hurricane season begins June 1 and lasts until November 30, 2016. We urge families to attend this beneficial public event to learn more about the safety options available to them in the event of a serious storm, said Susie Wentworth, director of marketing for Edison Mall. Wed like to thank the United Way and our community partners for volunteering their time and resources to ensure the preparedness and well-being of our community year-round. The special event, organized by the United Way and Edison Mall, will feature informative seminars from Jim Bjostad, chief of emergency management for the Lee County Department of Public Safety and Kristen Kirchhaine, NBC-2 meteorologist, who will also answer weather-related questions. Dubin Alzheimers Resource Center, Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida, American Red Cross, Floridas Southern Gulf Chapter, Home Depot and more will be on-hand to educate attendees about precautionary measures, emergency procedures, public and pet safety options during storm season.
